IJMB, which stands for Interim Joint Matriculation Board, is a 9 months program, run by Ahmadu Bello University, ABU Zaria. It is approved by the Nigeria University Commission (NUC), check Page 4 of the JAMB brochure, under Item 2.2(2), to see that IJMB is accepted for getting into university through Direct Entry.
IJMB offers an alternative way to enter Nigerian universities at 200 level through Direct Entry. Most universities accept IJMB results for admission. It’s a well-known program with many students successfully completing their degrees after going through it. Thousands of students have gone through the programme since its inception, and have completed their degree programmes in their chosen universities.
The program was established in 1976 by the Interim Common Services Agency (ICSA) of the old Northern Region government of Nigeria. IJMB (Interim Joint Matriculation Board) was created to offer educational and social services to the region’s people.
The IJMB Board is managed by the Institute of Education at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria. It also has members from different educational institutions like the Joint Admission Matriculation Board and the Federal University of Technology, Minna.
IJMBE - Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination (IJMBE) was first held in 1977 for all students who had undergone the IJMBE post secondary education program in the existing schools of Basic/Preliminary studies which had replaced the HSCE. Presently IJMB now serve as an Advanced Level Examination which guarantee candidate admission into 200 level.
IJMB is a programme most people have not heard of and it has been rapidly productive originating from the north and spreading to other parts of the country. IJMB Educational Consult serves as a legal business body jointly working with available IJMB centres with the sole aim of registering applicants at centres closer to their location.
